The Washington Township School District is a community public school district that serves students in Kindergarten through eighth grade from Washington Township, in Burlington County, New Jersey, United States. Since the 2007-08 school year, as part of an agreement with the Mullica Township Schools, Washington Township receives additional teaching support from the Mullica district and shares its superintendent and business administrator. Starting in the 2010-11 school year, Washington Township students in grades six through eight attend Mullica Township Middle School. The remaining grades are largely paired -- PreK with K, grades 1-2 and grades 3-4 -- to provide an appropriate learning environment for the students still attending the Green Bank school.[3][4]

The district participates in the Interdistrict Public School Choice Program at Green Bank Elementary School, having been approved on November 2, 1999, as one of the first ten districts statewide to participate in the program.[5] Seats in the program for non-resident students are specified by the district and are allocated by lottery, with tuition paid for participating students by the New Jersey Department of Education.[6]

As of the 2009-10 school year, the district's one school had an enrollment of 69 students and 10 classroom teachers (on an FTE basis), for a student–teacher ratio of 6.9.[1]

The district is classified by the New Jersey Department of Education as being in District Factor Group "A", the lowest of eight groupings. District Factor Groups organize districts statewide to allow comparison by common socioeconomic characteristics of the local districts. From lowest socioeconomic status to highest, the categories are A, B, CD, DE, FG, GH, I and J.[7]

Public school students in grades 9 - 12 attend Oakcrest High School, located in Hamilton Township, which serves students from Hamilton Township, Mullica Township, the City of Port Republic and Washington Township as part of the Greater Egg Harbor Regional High School District, a regional high school district serving approximately 3,700 in the Atlantic County districts of Egg Harbor City, Galloway Township, Hamilton Township and Mullica Township, together with students from the City of Port Republic and Washington Township who attend as part of sending/receiving relationships.[8]
